BOAT CLUB’S LOSSES

SERIOUS DAMAGE BY FLOOD Five yachts, two sheds, and land belonging to the Waimakariri Sailing and Power-Boat Club were washed out to sea in last week's flood. The total loss was estimated by club officials to be about £5OO. each yacht being worth about £5O. Because of the water erosion the remaining shed, which has just been completed, will have to be moved to a new site. This will cost about £BOO. A drive to raise funds to buy new land and boats will be held by the club, and one Christchurch business man, who is not a member, has already given £5.
