REHABILITATION LOANS

£74,170,986 ISSUED TO END OF APRIL 91,642 SERVICE PERSONEL ASSISTED Rehabilitation loans totalling £74,170,986 had been authorised for 91.642 former servicemen and women by the end of April. In April. 993 loans, totalling £987.864. were authorised. Loans to buy farms were increased to 6719. The total sum involved was £28,894.120. A total of 1062 former servicemen settled on Crown lands were included among the recipients of loans. At the end of April housing loans were brought to a total of 30.049. wortn £35.507.923. There were 369 loans for April, totalling £493,845. There have been 12.714 building loans authorised (totalling £18.291.528), and 17.335 purchase loans (totalling £17,216.395). The 152 building loans for April totalled £247.323 and the 217 purchase loans for the same period amounted to £246.522. Included in the total figures to date are 16.208 supplementary loans amounting to £2.419.338, intended to bridge the gap between pre-war prices and present-day costs. Including 12,331 who have been allocated State rental houses and the 6719 who have been placed on farms of their own, the number of former servicemen and women who had been given direct housing assistance through the Rehabilitation Department at the end of April was 49.099.
