ESTATE MANAGER WOUNDED

(Rec. 10 p.m.) SINGAPORE, May 31. An Irishman. Mr A. T. Jones', assistant manager of an estate in Sungei Sipnt. was wounrled in a bandit ambush on an estate road, and his special police escort was killed outright. Tn the first burst of fim from a high bank the escort was killed and Mr Jones was shot through the rich! arm.

Mr Jones, who was unarmed, grabbed the dead constable’s gun and menaced to get through, although wounded again in the left arm.
