OFFICIAL FORECASTS “The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON. May 31. The weather lorecast for Canterbury. Issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteoioiogical Office. Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: there is a weak high pressure ridge over New Zealand. Pressures are low south and West of the South Island. Forecast to 5 p.m.: rodera* a south-west winds developing: some coastal showers; otherwise weather fair to cloudy: temperatures cool. Further outlook: mainly fair. WEST COAST The following is the forecast for the West Coast of the South Island:— Weather cloudy, with scattered drizzle or rain. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was dull, with a cold north-east wind. The maximum temperature was 51.8 degrees. At midnight the sky was overcast ai d there was a iight southerly wind. The temperature was 46 degrees, and the bare meter, at 2:1.870 inches (1011.5 millibars), was steady. Rainfall for 24 hours ended 1 a.m. Trace Meteorological observations taken at the Geophysical Observatory, Christchurch, on Wednesday, May 31:—
