PASSENGERS FOR GREYMOUTH

ROAD FROM REEFTON NOW OPEN

The road from Reefton to Greymouth was opened yesterday and to-day the Railway Road Service will start taking its passengers the whole way to Greymouth by bus. Yesterday the bus passengers from Christchurch were transferred to a rail-car at Reefton for the rest of their trip to Greymouth.

The Reefton-Inangahua road is still closed and thfe Road Services is taking its Westport bus through the Shenandoah valley to by-pass this part of the route. The bus urns off at Maruia Springs Junction. 30 miles from Reefton.

Four buses and about 80 passengers were taken to Reefton yesterday. An Army convoy of six trucks will leave Christchurch this morning with food for the West Coast, continuing the service started on Monday. Yesterday nine trucks went through to Reef ton, but to-day the convoy w’ill be able to go right to Greymouth.

With 15 trucks on *he run. six one day and nine the next, it was possible to give each of the vehicles a thorough overhaul between trips, said an irmv spokesman yesterday. The Army radio operators with heir equipment are still working with the repair gangs in the Cass region.
