NEW GOVERNMENT LOAN

COMMENT BY PRIME MINISTER (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 29. First reactions to the Government’s plan for a £20,000.000 public loan had been “very good,” the Prime Minister (Mr Holland) said in Auckland today. Mr Holland described the loan as a “carefully-thought-out plan for financing Government expenditure by taxation and borrowing of existing money.” From the comments he had heard this morning, he said, the general impression seemed to be: “It is now up to those who believe in sound finance to stand by their Government in its fight against inflation.”
