ACCIDENTS

FIVE MEN INJURED CAR GOES OFF ROAD AND DOWN HILLSIDE NAPIER. May 28. Five men were admitted to the public hospital on Saturday evening with injuries received when a car went off the road at Kaiwaka. 10 miles north of Napier, on the main Wairoa road at 5.40 p.m. Four of the men are members of one family. They were Arthur Drummond, the driver of the car. and his three sons. Ronald. Basil, and Leslie, all of Hastings. The fifth man was C. England, of Napier. The car was extensively damaged. After leaving the road it crashed 52 feet down a hillside. The accident occurred just after the car had passed an oncoming car driven by David Bain, of Arapawanui. None of the men i s in a serious condition. MAN KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR Alexander Donaldson, of 150 Ferry road, suffered head injuries when he was knocked down by a car on the Madras street bridge about 7.20 p.m. on Saturday. His condition last evening was reported to be satisfactory. TAXI STRIKES POLE William James Key, a taxi driver, of 95 Linwood avenue, was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital about 3.30 a.m. yesterday after his taxi had struck a pole on Hagley avenue. His condition last evening was satisfactory.
