HIGH WINDS IN RAI VALLEYS

(Wew Zealand Press Association) BLENHEIM. May 26. Heavy north-west winds battered most parts of Marlborough to-day. and in some districts gusts were estimated to be 60 miles an hour. In some of the valleys of the Rai. wind severely damaged farm sheds and uprooted trees. At Fabian’s Valley, a particularly heavy gust demolished a large shed, which crashed down on a tractor housed inside. Later another heavy gust caught the wreckage of the shed and shifted it for a distance of some 10 feet. A dog which had been tied to the shed was an unwilling passenger but was unhurt. In the Opouri Valley, the roof of a cowshed was lifted by the gale and crashed in a paddock three chains away.
