HOST FOR 25 YEARS

The Oxford Collie Club has for 25 years held its trials on Mr C. F. Bassett’s property at Burnt Hill, and on Thursday this year's trials were suspended for a spell while the club passed its thanks to Mr Bassett. The president of the club (Mr R. E. Adair) said that for 25 years the club had abused the hospitality of Mr Bassett, and wanted to thank him for his patience and generosity. Mr Bassett had fenced the country to suit the trials, and had allowed the club to put up permanent buildings. He had acted as judge and timekeeper, and had generally fathered the club through the years, and members were deeply appreciative. In his reply. Mr Bassett assured members that he had had much pleasure in doing what little he had done, and declared his intention of running a dog next year, his first attempt for over 20 years. The club has a heading course and a huntawav course on Burnt Hill. The heading course is good, and interesting. The huntawav course is one of the best, and hardest, in the South Island.
