ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY

The gross income for the year, £4710, revealed an increase of £362 5s 2d, compared with~"T949, said the financial report of the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society, presented to the annual meeting of the society last evening. The meeting, which was well attended. made several recommendations for the consideration of the incoming council. They included the setting up of a fish hatchery *he employment of a fish research officer, and the abolition of the fee for the shcoting of email and pheasant. It was also recommended that the Marine Department be asked to stop salmon netting, and that the control of salmon be given to acclimatisation societies.
