CHRISTCHURCH-PICTON EXPRESS

Sir, —The district traffic manager of railways is incorrect when he says that this train stops as required between Waipara and Blenheim. North of Kaikoura the train only stops at a few stations, and does not cater for passengers at all stations. For many taxpayers over this stretch of about 80 miles the rail service is most inconvenient, and a “pick up and put down” service would be much appreciated and would help to make the railways pay.—Yours, etc., TAXPAYER. May 23. 1950.
