Mr H. H. McCaw, whose death occurred on Sunday, was a man who had earned the respect of thousands, said the chairman (Mr E H. S Hamilton) at last evening’s meeting of the Christchurch Drainage Board. Mr McCaw was member for the Sydenham ward. The board recorded its sympathy. The question of recommending a date for the by-electi-m was referred to the finance committee.
