INCREASE SHOWN IN PRODUCTION HUGE TOTAL AIMED AT FOR 1953 (Rec. 9 p.m.) LONDON, May 22. The latest available figures show a substantial increase in oil production in the Middle East. Production in the first three months of this year was 18.960.000 metric tons, the equivalent of an annual total of 76.000.000 tons, compared with 70.750,000 tons in 1949 and 35,452,000 in 1939. The Petroleum Information Bureau stated to-day that drilling and refining projects had been expedited to raise production to 130,000.000 tons by 19a3.
