WIN FOR MISS E. M. NUTT From Our Own Reporter TIMARU. May 22. ! Miss E. M. Nutt (Christchurch) won the i South Canterbury women's golf championship at the Highfield links, Timaru, on Saturday morning. The runner-up was Mrs W. A. Scott (Timaru). The weather was frosty at first and putting was difficult, but golfing conditions . were quite good later in the morning. Miss Nutt played straighter golf . throughout the match. Play was all square i at the turn and again at the thirteenth 1 hole. Mrs Scott drove into a tree at the sixteenth, and struck trouble in a hazard with her third, at the seventeenth. Miss Nutt won both holes in bogey figures and the match) 2 and 1. Both players went out in 40. Miss Nutt completed the 17 holes in 77. Trophies were presented by the president of the Timaru Ladies’ Golf Club (Miss E. B. Mac Lean) as follows: Highfield Cup, Mrs E. P. Barker (Geraldine); runner-up, Mrs W. Grant (Dunedin). Mrs J. C. Templer’s trophy, for best gross score: Mrs W. A. Scott (Timaru). Wright Cup: Miss F. Mcßeath and V. Watt; runners-up, Mrs P. G. Young and Mrs D. J. Mcßeath. COMPETITIONS HELD BY L.G.U. CORONATION MEDAL AND AOTEAROA CUP (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 22. The annual home links Coronation Medal competition for players with handicaps between scratch and 18, which was played by members of the Ladies’ Golf Union in New Zealand during the week May 7 to May 13 was won by Mrs Dawson (Wellsford). Her score of 77, 13—64, was eight strokes under the scratch score for the course. Miss M. Upton (Auckland), 83, 18—65 (72), and Mrs J. D. Joy (Hamilton), 80, 15—65 (72), tied for second place. The competition for the Aotearoa Cup. which is played in conjunction and is open to all Ladies’ Golf Union players, was won by Mrs R. Blackmore, of the Tai Tapu Club. Her round of 91, 29—62, was 12 strokes under the scratch score. The next best score was that, of Mrs S. R. Cuthbertson (North Otago). Her round of 86, 22—64, was 11 under the scratch score for the course. lIAGLEY LADIES’ CLUB The winners of a flag match, played by members of the Hagley Ladies’ Club, were: senior: Mrs E.
