COMPANY NEWS McKenzies Stores.—Consolidated accounts of J. R. McKenzie, Ltd., and subsidiary companies for the year ended March >3l. 1950. show a net profit of £61,571, against £66 767 in 1949. and £78,157 in 1948. A sum of £50,000 (£62,000 the previous year) is transferred Io the parent company, McKenzie’s Department Stores, Ltd., by way of dividend. McKenzie’s Department Stores. Ltd., is pay** ing an unchanged dividend of 10 per cent, (final 5 per cent.) on June 16. Last year a bonus of 2J per cent, was added to the dividend. The directors advise that 2j per cent, bonus is not being paid this year, because (1) there has been a drop in the net profit, due to increased costs, and (2) the company has a considerable

expansion programme ahead and it was thought advisable to carry the surplus over and above the amount required for dividend to reserve while the expansion programme was being initiated.— (P.A. •

Wilcox Mofflin.—Wilcox Mofflin. Ltd.. Sydney, wool. hide. skin, and tallow merchants, is issuing 250,000 new shares of Us each, at par, bringing in £137.500. The new shares will be offered on the basis of one for every three held. They are payable in full on application by July 31 and will rank for dividend from July 1. Applications lor the issue close on June 8. The new issue will bring paid up capital to £sso,ooo—the full amount authorised. Profit last year was £58.097 after tax, compared with £71,355 in 1948 and £52,994 in 1947. Present dividend of 10 per cent, would take £55.000 in a full year on the larger capital. The last issue by the company was in 1948, when 150,000 shares were issued at 5s 6d premium
