NEW PRESIDENT OF TURKEY
MR CELAL BAYAR NAMED (Rec. 9 p.m.) ANKARA, May 20. Mr Celal Bayar, the leader of the Turkish Democratic Party, will be the new President of Turkey. At _ a party caucus to-day, Mr Bayar s desire to remain simply the leader of the victorious party at the recent elections was unanimously overridden. Mr Bayar will be formally elected President on Monday, when the new National Assembly holds its first
Mr Bayar will succeed General Ismet Inonu, who has been President since 1933.
