The Minister of External Affairs (Mr F.' W. Doidge) plans to leave Auckland by flying-boat on the nignt of May 29 for a visit to the trusteeship territory of Samoa. He is to return to New Zealand on June 7. He will be accompanied by Mrs Doidge. the secretary to the Department "of Island Territories (Mr R. T. G. Palrick), and Mr Doidge’s secretary, Mr Peter Jeffrey.—(P.A.)

Captain E. Sutherland, first pilot of the Lyttelton Harbour Board, left Lyttelton on Saturday as master of the Wye Valley on the vessel’s passage to Dunedin. The former captain has left the ship because of illness. It is understood that another captain will be flown out from England to take the position. Messrs H. B. Duckworth and D. V. Wilson will leave Christchurch to-day for a six weeks’ business tour of Australia.
