DR. UPHAM CLOCK

Sir,—l was surprised to read the statement made by the secretary of the Upham clock fund. He said the committee was eagerly awaiting a clock parts price list from England. May I ask when the list was sent for. It is now between two and three years sipce the project was launched, and so little progress has been made.— Yours, etc.,

GRATEFUL DONOR. Lyttelton, May 16, 1950. [Application for a clock parts price list was made immediately after the last meeting of the committee, some three or four months ago, said Mr R. F. Barrett, secretary of the Upham Clock Committee, to whom this letter was read. The application was made to a Christchurch firm, who sent it. through their Wellington principals, to England. No reply had yet been received.]
