SAVILE ROW FAVOURED IN STEEPLECHASE “The Press" Special Service ~,L , AUCKLAND. May 19. The £2OOO Waikato Steeplechase will be event on the second day of the Waikato Racing Club’s winter- meeting at Te Rapa to-morrow. It will be run over a* distance of three miles, and across 19 fences. Many of the 14 candidates have winning steeplechase form, and there are also several well-performed hurdlers which may win at any time over country. ; tlt 15 probable that the Ctorohanga - Hack Handicap, the City Hack Handicap, and the Horotiu Hack Handicap will each have to be run in two divisions. The totalise tor double will be operated on the Waikato Steeplechase and the Stewards' Handicap. Selections are:— - 11 a.m.—Melville Hack and Hunters' Steeplechase: Sandy, Omaio, Chuka Fox. 11.45 a.m.—Otorohanga Hack Handicap: first division, Cimtore, Trusting, State Control. Second division: Rhett Butler. Mark Off, Tactful Lad. 12.30 p.m.—President’s Handicap: Patuone. Wonder Boy, Caber Fae. 1.20 p.m.—Waikato Steeplechase: Savile Row, Jon Rosa, Qolden Reign. 2.10 p.m.—City Hack Handicap: First division. Con Spirito, Master Menteith, Kittyshah. Second division: Trusting, Reliance. Cimtulla. 3 p.m.—Stewards' Handicap: Gold Pal, Silver Blue, Mere Ana. 3.50 p.m.—Seddon Hurdles: Gay Fellow, Young Bob, Ruling Master. 4.40 p.m.—Horotiu Hack Handicap: First division. Thinker.
