LAND BALLOT HELD

The successful applicant in a land ballot held yesterday at the Lands and Survey Department was Mr G. McDowell. of “Davaar.” Cheviot. The property offered was a section, about 500 acres, of the Kelmont Farm Settlement. The settlement comprised part of the property known as Limehurst, and was acquired by the Crown from the estate of Mr W. H. Turner, together with an area acquired from Canterbury University College. It is situated on the Waikari Valley road. 44 miles north of Christchurch, and six to seven miles east of Waikari. There were 66 applicants.
