Communists Claim Successes “FOUR REGIMENTS ROUTED” (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 10 p.m.) HONG KONG, April 21. Breaches of numerous Nationalist defences on Hainan Island were claimed by the Peiping radio in reporting the invasion of China’s second largest island. The radio said that the invasion began last Sunday when hundreds of vessels engaged the Nationalists in a "fierce naval and artillery engagement” to reach the Hainan coast at three points. In the ensuing fighting the Communists routed four Nationalist regiments.
