PILOT LAUNCH ADRIFT
MISHAP NEAR TIMARU From Our Own Reporter _ TIMARU, April 20. 4 The Timaru Harbour Board’s pilot launch was adrift for about seven and a half hours this evening off the coast south of Timaru. The launch developed engine trouble when on its way to take the harbourmaster (Captain F. J. Callan), to pilot the overseas vessel Richmond Castle, which was lying 15 miles offshore. As the pilot did not reach her, the ship remained at sea. A Timaru fishing trawler was directed by. radio telephone to search for the missing launch which was found and towed to port. The Richmond Castle was forced to lie off the coast because of heavy fog on her arrival from Southampton.
