COMMITTEE MEETING OF ASSOCIATION Steps will be taken at the next annual meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Fencing Association to elect Mr W, M. Dawn a life member for his work aschairman of the fencing orgahisjng committee at the British Empire Games. Thia was decided at a meeting of the committee .of the association held in Qiriitchurch. The president (Sit Joseph Ward),reported the gift of the British Amateur Fencing Association’s gold medallion, which was - presented to the New Zealand Ama-, teur. Fencing Association on the occasion of the British! Empire Games. Letters of appreciation were forwarded' to the New Zealand Olympic and BritishEmpire Games Association, the British Empire Games Organising Committee, (Auckland), Mr Holiey, manager of tha New Zealand team, and other persona and organisations. Sir Joseph Ward reported that Mr J. C. Pollock, of the Australian Amateur' Fencing Federation, had discussed with him the possibilities of regular assaults at arms between Australia and New Zealand, and it was hoped that visits between the two centres might be held every second year. Th<e association approved the proposed constitution of the British Empire Fencing Federation, which was formed at Ardmore in January. A letter was also received from the president of the International Fencing Federation acknowledging the constitution of the federation. It was resolved to recommend to the provincial councils that any surplue money left from the Empire Games be spent to prepare a year book, so that justice could be done to the games.
