TEAM SAILS FOR N.Z.
MANAGER PREDICTS HARD MATCHES (Rec. 8.30 p.m.) LONDON, April 1. Wearing their new navy blue blaz> ers, the British Rugby, team sailed in the Ceramic to-day tor New Zealand and Australia, where they will play 30 matches, including six tests. The team comprises 13 players from Wales, nine from Ireland, five from Scotland and three from England. Surgeon-Captain L, B. Osborne, the manager of the team, said: “The side is a fusion of the best qualities of each country. I think they will put up a good show. We have a fine scrummaging pack, some pretty fast back-row forwards and .a lot of experience outside. We shall give New Zealand and Australia everything we have.” There will be no organised training aboard the ship because the team has just finished a hard season at home and mighL get stale. Previous British teams have played in navy blue jerseys, but this side will wear red. This is because when F. D. Prentice’s team visited New Zealand in 1030 there was a clash of colours. The All Blacks, as hosts, made the change and appeared in all white.
