TREATMENT OF WAR AMPUTEES
IMPROVEMENT SOUGHT BY ASSOCIATION (New Zealand Press Association) NELSON, March 10. At the Dominion Conference of the War Amputees’ Association, concern was expressed at the lack of unified policy by various former servicemen’s associations which, it was alleged, had allowed successive Governments to evade their responsibilities not only in 1 providing adequate compensation for war widows and war amputees, but also in failing to keep the purchasing power of the 1917 pension rate up to the falling value of money in this country.
Invitations are to be extended by the Dominion executive of the War Amputees’ Association to representatives of other former servicemen's organisations and the standing committee of the National Patriotic Fund Board to approach the Government to get more generous treatment for all tvar amputees on the question of the provision of motor-cars and transport allowances.
