DAIL EIREANN SUSPENDED
ANGRY SCENES AMONG MEMBERS LONDON, March 8, For the first time in its history the Dail Eireann was suspended for hall an hour to-day after scenes of disorder in which both sides hurled unpdtliamentary epithets. Anger arose at question time when the Minister of Agriculture (Mr James Dillon) alleged that Opposition m- fibers were deliberately circulating falsehoods about the possible effect of the land reclamation scheme. A former Minister of Agriculture, Mi Patrick Smith, shouted at Mr Dillon: “You lying, strutting, purse-proud blackguard.” The Speaker said that Mr Smith would have to leave the House, but he refused. The uproar grew, and the Speaker adjourned the session for half ah hour, When the House reassembled the question was not proceeded with, but the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Eamon de Valera) suggested that, with a view to avoiding future question time scenes, the character of the replies might be considered. The Speaker said that could be done later if necessary.
