BANKRUPT’S APPLICATION REJECTED

From Our Own Reporter TIMARU. February 7. “I am of the opinion that you have shown little scrupulousness or honesty and should not be set free on the trading community again," said Mr Justice Northcroft in the Supreme Court at Timaru to-day, when rejecting a motion for discharge of bankruptcy by Thomas John Downes. The motion was opposed by Mr W. A. Scott for Desmond Unwin, Ltd., who said that proof of debt was provided: by building timber which had been used in the construction of a building: on which Downes himself had worked, and on which nothing had been paid.! Downes, who was not represented by I counsel, said that before he had been declared a bankrupt he had done all he could to help his creditors, who had ! taken all he possessed. . "“All they got was Is in the £. as ! your debts totalled more than £2600,’’ i said his Honour.
