EMPLOYER AND EMPLOYEE

Sir, —In my experience as a gardener I have twice come up against employers who have refused to transport me and my belongings from their property. The last instance was from a wellknown run near Amberley, and the distance from this place to the nearest public conveyance was five miles. I understand from the Labour Department that this is legal. In my opinion men who persist in this practice are doing their best to establish a state of hostility between worker and employer. Surely the labour union and Federated Farmers can come to some agreement to right this state of affairs. —Yours, etc.,

w „ GARDENER. February 6, 1950.
