The Deputy-Prime Minister (Mr K. J. Holyoake) presided over a meeting of the Cabinet yesterday because of the absence from Wellington of the Prime Minister (Mr Holland). He also presided at a meeting of the Executive Council which followed.— (P.A.) ..The resignation of the Very Rev. Dr. D. C. Herron, former Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, as minister of Knox Church, was accepted with regret by the Presbytery of Dunedin last evening. Dr. Herron plans to retire from March 31, and after a holiday in Scotland will live in Dunedin. He will retain his office of Chancellor of the University of Otago. The kirk session of Knox Church has made arrangements to obtain as supply preacher for five months and a half a noted churchman who holds the charge of Cramond Church, Edinburgh. He is the Rev. R. Leonard Small, who will preach for the first time at Knox Church on April 16. (P.A.)
