“The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON. February 7. The weather forecast for Canterbury issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: an anti-cyclone extends on to the North Island. Pressure is low to the south. Forecast: moderate north-easterlies predominating on the coast, but north-westerlies, freshening at times, especially inland. Weather fair to cloudy and warm. Further outlook: fair. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate north-westerly to westerly - winds predominating. Weather cloudy with occasional rain extending from the south. Temperatures mild. Further outlook: occasional rain. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was fine and mild, with little wind. The maximum temperature was 66.5 degrees. The sky was cloudy at midnight and there was little wind. The barometer at 29.805 inches (1009.3 millibars) was rising slowly.
