RESIDENT MAGISTRATE FOR WEST COAST

RELIEVING WORK IN CHRISTCHURCH

Mr R. M. Grant, S.M., who has been appointed resident Magistrate for the West Coast, will spend one week every month relieving the Christchurch magistrates,/according to an announcement made by the Minister of Justice (Mr T. C. Webb). As Mr Grant will also assist as Coroner, it will not now be necessary to appoint a full-time Coroner in Christchurch.

For the last two years the Magistrate’s Courts at Greymouth, Hokitika and Wataroa have been presided over by a Christchurch magistrate once a month, and the courts at Reefton and Westport have been visited by a Nelson magistrate. Mr Grant will now preside at court sittings in all five centres.
