SAFE STOLEN FROM AUCKLAND

£9OO AND PETROL COUPONS MISSING (New Zealand Press Assoctatvm) AUCKLAND, February 6. A 4cwt safe containing £9OO in cash, which was stolen from the office o£ Shorters Rental Cars, Ltd.. Shortiand street, last Monday, was found by a picnic party at Titirangi on Saturday afternoon. The safe was lying on its face 12 feet from the scenic drive roadway.. about two miles north of the Titirangi Hotel. The back had been hacked open with an axe and two steel cash? boxes containing most of the money were also hacked open. Apart from a few shillings, all the cash had been stolen. The thieves left the firm’s documents in the safe, but took away petrol couoons for more than 8000 gallons. They must have sorted through the coupons, as,coupons for 62 gallons which had expired were left behind.
