F.L.—Letters limited to 150 words. MAYORAL AND MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS Sir, —“A Son of a Pioneer” is awaiting some movement to be made to petition the Minister to have the municipal elections postponed for 12 months. The carrying on of the centenary celebrations is one thing; the altering of the election date for 12 months is another. Six months should be sufficient. No doubt independents will protect the position as far as the Mayor, Mr E. H. Andrews, is concerned; but work has been done by Mr Andrews that should be carried on and expanded where necessary, and revised where progress has been halted. Six months would show what interpretation those who have charge of the celebrations have placed on its importance.—Yours,’ etc., „ , H. BLISS. February 3, 1950. Grandson of pioneer, 1851, S. S. Travancore. RISING PRICES
