DOUBLE DIVIDEND OF £504 (New Zealand. Press Association> _ WANGANUI, February 5. The Wanganui Jockey Club’s autumn meeting opened on Saturday in fine but overcast weather before a large attendance. The track was hard and fast. Tenor Royal paid £l3 15s 6d when he won the Wanganui Cup. Golden Robes, winner of the Petre Hack Handicap, the second leg of the double, paid £25 16s 6d. The doubles totalisator dividend was £504 18s for £l.

After the Victory Hack Handicap, A. I J. Rust, rider of Aquelio, which finished second, was charged under rule 282 (1) and (2) with not riding his horse .out at the finish. The committee found that Rust was guilty of an error in judgment in that he dropped his hands at'the finish of the race. They imposed a fine of £4, but commended him for the straightforward manner in which he gave his evidence. About two furlongs from the finish of the Flying Handicap, Malanui was pulled up with a broken fetlock and was later destroyed. Thimble, outclassed his rivals to win the Rqsehill Handicap, his third success in Australia. Until recently the horse, for which a high figure was paid by the Australian owner, R. S. Bumstein, after the horse was placed fourth in the New Zealand Derby had been a disappointment. Result:— ROSEHILL HANDICAP, Of £BOO. One mile and a quarter. THIMBLE 7-8 .. .. ORR STAKES (N.Z.P.A. —Reuter—Copyright) MELBOURNE, Feb. 5. Clever riding by L. Lott enabled St. Razzle to defeat the odds-on favourite. Comic Court, in the C. F. Orr Stakes at Moonee Valley. Lott won the race when he rushed St. Razzle away to a two lengths’ lead with three furlongs to run. Comic Court was slightly pocketed and just failed to get up. Result:— C. F. ORR STAKES, Of £l5OO. Flying Sovereign Injured Flying Sovereign, the favourite, suffered a cracked heel during the Craven Plate at Riccarton on Saturday. She finished strongly from well back for third in that race. The injup' will prevent the Airway mare from racing for some time.
