DOLLAR LOAN FOR AUSTRALIA
POSSIBILITIES UNDER REVIEW
(Rec. 10 p.m.) CANBERRA. Jan. 31. The possibilities of a substantial dollar loan to finance the import of urgently-needed North American goods are under review by the Federal Treasurer (Mr A. W. Fadden).
Alternative courses are, first, the purchase of additional dollars from the International Monetary Fund, second the negotiation of trading credits through the American ImportExport Bank, third an approach to Washington for a direct Government loan, and fourth borrowing through private sources in the United States.
It is believed that Australia will apply to the International Monetary Fund before June 30.
