MOTION OF NO-CONFIDENCE DEFEATED CAPE TOWN, January 30. The South African Parliament by 78 votes to 71 defeated the motion by the Leader of the Opposition (General Smuts) of no-confidence in Dr. Malan’s Nationalist Government and bv a similar majority carried an amendment expressing confidence in it.
