TYRE AND TUBE IMPORTS

ALLOCATION FOR THIS YEAR SAME QUANTITY AS LAST YEAR (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, January 31. The same allocation of licences to import tyres and tubes of sizes not made in New Zealand will be granted this year as last year, according to information from the Customs Department. In addition, licences will be granted for the importation up to March 31 only of sizes that are made locally to the extent of one-third of the allocation pertaining to non-locally made tyres. The latter provision, said a tyre importer this evening, will not greatly increase supplies, as the allocation of licences for tyres not made locally was based on 1G per cent, of the Dominion’s total requirements/
