Christchurch Gas Dividend.—The directors of the Christchurch Gas, Coal, and Coke Company, Ltd., have declared a final dividend of 3 per cent., making a total dividend of 5 per cent, (unchanged). Transfer books will be closed from February 14 to February 28, both days inclusive.
Quill, Morris Appointments.—Mr W. H. Nicholls has been appointed managing director of Quill. Morris (1936), Ltd., in place of the late Mr J. T. Sutto.n. Mr F. L. P. Sharp has been appointed, secretary of the company, vice Mr Nicholls.
Southland Frozen Meat.— This company has declared a final dividend of Is a share, payable March 1, ex dividend. February 17.—(P.A.)
Elder Smith, Ltd.— This company has declared an interim dividend of 4 per cent., payable March I.—(P.A.).
Weston house Radio, Ltd., Auckland.— This company earned a net profit of £1925 for the year ended September 30, a result which was reached after providing £llOO for taxation, compared with £1879 in the previous year, when £1459 tax was provided. Dividend, increased from 4 per cent, to 5 per cent., requires £1405, leaving £520 to increase the carry-forward to £1275.—(P.A.)
Merger of Stock Firms Now Effective.— Proposals made by Wright, Stephenson and Company. Ltd., to shareholders and debenture-holders of Abraham and Williams, Ltd., have now become effective. Letters of allotment have been sent to those receiving the new issue of ordinary and preference shares and cash settlement is being made, as agreed yesterday, to all others. The few share and debenture holders who have not yet accepted may still do so before March 31. An interim dividend at the rate of 7 per cent, per annum for the four months ended yesterday is being paid to share-
holders of Abraham and Williams, Ltd., by. that company. The new Issue of ordinary and preference shares made by Wright, Stephenson and Company. Ltd., will rank for dividend as from January 19, 1950, that is if and when the Anal dividend is declared. All shares of both old and new issues will rank alike. Holders of new issue shares may deal with them on the same basis as the old issue when the company’s share registers reopen to-day.—(P.A.)
