HYDROGEN BOMB PRODUCTION

SENATOR CONNALLY’S OPINION

SUPPORT FOR AMERICAN MANUFACTURE

WASHINGTON, January 29. The chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the United States Senate (Senator Tom Connally) to-day supported the view expressed by the prominent atomic scientist. Dr. Harold Urey, that the United States should develop .and build a hydrogen bomb. “The United States should arm itself with the hydrogen bomb,” said Senator Connally. “The security of the nation and its people require that we should provide our armed services with the besi possible weapons. We want to preserve the peace of the world, and the hydrogen bomb will serve that cause just as the atomic bomb did, because it ended the war and gave us peace ”
