INVASION OF HAINAN

CHINESE COMMUNISTS PREPARE

(Rec. 7 p.m.) TAIPE (Formosa), January 29.

The Chinese Communists are massing 5000 motorised junks and small craft for an invasion of Hainan Island, 10 miles off the South China coast.

This was reported to-day by the Nationalists’ Hainan Island Command. About 200,000 Chinese Communist troops were being assembled for an invasion of the island.
