AMERICAN AUTHOR’S VISIT
GATHERING MATERIAL IN N.Z. FOR BOOK From Out Own Reporter GREYMOUTH, Jan. 30. Mr James A. Michener, author of the book, “Tales of the South Pacific,” which won the Pulitzer prize in 1048, is visiting the West Coast. A resident of Tunicum, United States, Mr Michleur is accompanied by his wife and Mr J. A. Antliff, of Christchurch, and formerly of the United States, who worked on the West Coast during the war in connexion with oil-boring operations at Greenstone.
Mr Michener is gathering material during a tour of New Zealand for another book. At the same time, he is contributing articles on the country 4o the “Saturday Evening Post,” one of America's best-known weekly magazines.
Mrs Michener is also a writer, speci alising in political subjects.
