SECOND DIVISION TEAMS
CHRISTCHURCH BEATS WELLINGTON "The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON. January 22. The Wellington second division speedway team was beaten by 27 points to 21 by the Christchurch second division team at Taita last evening. Fine displays of teams racing by both sides and many close finishes made the night’s racing probably the best yet seen on the track. Outstanding performances by the Wellington captain. K. Bock, and his key man. K. McMillan, resulted in their team benefiting by 15 points. Well-matched pairs resulted in the winning team not being decided until the second to last
An attempt on the track four-lap flying start record of 78 2-ssec by the English rider, Ron Mason, who was making his first appearance on the track, was unsuccessful. He took 80 l-ssec. The teams were:—Wellington: K. Bock (captain), D. Boyle. R. Tunbridge, K. McMillan. and J. Hart (reserve). Christchurch: J. Cunningham (captain), E. Brown, G. Mardon, J. Swarbrick, and *. Moore (reserve).
