MATCH ABANDONED AT GREYMOUTH
CANTERBURY AND WEST COAST From Our Own Reporter GREYMOUTH. December 28. After postponements on Monday and Tuesday because of rain, the representative cricket match between West Coast and Canterbury had to be abandoned today, after West Coast had made a good start, having put on 121 runs for the loss of four wickets at the luncheon adjournment. Further rain prevented the resumption of play and the match was abandoned late in the afternoon, when there was no prospect of the weather improving. R. Donaldson, who was bowled by Taplin for 44, and G. Marsh, who was caught by Dawson off Bennett for 22, tvere responsible for a useful partnership in the West Coast innings. A. Knapp made 35 not out. S. Garforth was out early leg before wicket to Lohrey for four, and T Dennehy. the other opening batsman, was caught by McCrea, off Reid, when five. n dy ri Ot out 10 ’ and extras totalled 10. M. Lohrey, one for 22 off 12 overs. D. Reid one for 26 off 12 overs, R. Taplm one for 25 runs off six over* and Bennett one for 38 off six overs took the wickets. ’
