YOUNG MAN KILLED CAR OVER BANK NEAR GREYMOUTH From Our Own Reporter GREYMOUTH, December 26. ! One man was killed, his mother seriously injured, and another man injured when a motor-car left the. Grey-mouth-Westport coastal highway near Twelve Mile bluff and crashed 100 feet over a bank this morning. They were: KiUed Archibald Dunean Cameron, aged 22, married, with one child, of New Brighton. Injured Mrs George Cameron, aged 44, of 144 Jubilee avenue. Christchurch, who is suffering from head injuries and a broken nose. Her condition is serious. Mr?J. W. Barry, married, London street, Christchurch, suffering abrasions to face, and back injuries. His ; condition is reported as satisfactory. Mrs Cameron is the mother of the man killed, and the wife of Mr George Cameron, a well-known New Brighton trotting driver and trainer. Both Mrs Cameron and Mr Barry were admitted to the Grey Hospital. The three persons were travelling to Westport for the Westport Trotting Club’s meeting. It appears that the accident occurred shortly before 10.30 a.m. The car was considerably damaged. Mr Cameron, who worked in a rubber factory at Christchurch, was also associated with his father in driving pacers and trotters. An inquest will be opened at Greymputh to-morrow. Mr George Cameron was in Westport and came to Greymouth this afternoon when he heard of the accident.

TRUCK COLLIDES WITH TRAIN DRIVER DIES FROM INJURIES (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, December 26. Fatal injuries were received by the driver of a motor-truck when it was struck by the Auckland-Opua express at the level crossing at Kaipara Flats on Saturday. He was: Thomas Gubb, aged 71, a farmer, of Hoteo. The injured man was brought to Auckland, but* died in the casualty ward of the Middlemore Hospital. TRUCK LEAVES ROAD FATAL INJURIES SUFFERED BY DRIVER (New Zealand Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, Dec. 26. When a light truck left the road at a deceptive bend on the Mount Stewart road late on Thursday night, its driver, Mr Duncan Fraser, a farmer of Rortgotea, suffered severe head injuries from which he died early on Saturday evening. MOTORCYCLIST KILLED COLLISION WITH BUS (New Zealand Press Association.) WELLINGTON, December 26. An 18-year-old motor-cyclist was killed when he collided with a Railways Road Services bus at Lower Hutt at 4.55 p.m. to-day. He was : Errol Gavin Nicol, a son of Mr and Mrs Gavin Nicol, 62 Kinghorne street, Miramar. Nicol was taken to hospital severely injured and died 15 minutes later. BOY DROWNED AT NAPIER

RESCUE ATTEMPT FAILS (New Zealand Press Association) NAPIER, December 26. Richard Skelton, aged 16, was drowned at Napier this afternoon. Noticing the boy in difficulties, a young couple entered the strong surf and brought the boy almost ashore. The woman, however, got into difficulties and the man went into the sea to her assistance. In the meantime a wave swept the boy back into the sea. He was dead when brought out a second time. BUS OVERTURNS NEAR AUCKLAND PASSENGERS ESCAPE INJURY (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, December 26. Passengers in a bus travelling to Huia on Manukau harbour, from Auckland, received a severe shaking when the bus slid off the Coast road, about a mile past the Parau dam, at 11.30 o’clock this morning and overturned on the side of the road. Five persons were taken to the casualty department of the Auckland Hpspital by ambulance, but were allowed to return home after being treated for cuts and shock. They were: Miss Mary Ann Patterson, of Symonds street, Auckland; Gay Ann Lindergreen, aged nine, and Joy June Lindergreen, aged seven, whose parents live in Harmon avenue. Mount Rcskill; Robert Campbell McLaren, aged 24, of Ranfurly road, Epsom; ana James Gordon Lawrence, of Princes street, Onehunga. The bus was negotiating a bad stretch of the road when the mishap occurred. Quick action by the driver, Mr R. Foster, of Huia, saved the bus from crashing over with force. Some passengers were thrown out of their seats and cut by glass from broken side windows. The passengers were able to clamber out through a side door. CAR AND TAXI IN COLLISION A man and a boy were injured in a collision between a car and a taxi at the corner of Burnside and Ilam roads late yesterday afternoon. They areJohn Carthy, aged about eight, of 79 Tomes road, who suffered slight concussion, and Mr Gordon Miller, of 191 River road, who suffered head injuries. Carthy was a passenger in the car and Mr Miller a passenger in the taxi. The condition of both was reported to be satisfactory last evening. MOTORCYCLIST HEAD INJURIES

(New Zealand Press Association) BLENHEIM, December 26. After lying unconscious for several hours on a lonely road on Saturday night, a motor-cyclist, William Charles Russell, aged 20, of Hawkesbury, near Blenheim, was discovered by a passing motorist and was taken to the Wairau Hospital suffering from severe head injuries. The accident occurred about 10 p.m. when Russell, who was returning home after visiting a friend, collided with a wandering cow. He suffered severe concussion, remaining unconscious until yesterday. His condition to-day is satisfactory.

CAR DRIVER INJURED From Our Own Reporter TIMARU, December 26. Barrie Winn, of Winchmore, a farmer, aged 22, suffered a fractured spine when the car he was driving failed to take a bend in Park View terrace, Timaru, and turned over, at 10 p.m. on Saturday. Three other passengers were uninjured. Winn was admitted to the Timaru Public Hospital, where his condition this evening was reported to be satisfactory. CYCLIST INJURED IN RACE Albert Thomson, of Springs road, Prebbleton, suffered head injuries when he was involved in an accident which occurred during a cycling race at English Park on Saturday afternoon. He was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital. His condition last evening was reported to be improving. ELDERLY WOMAN INJURED An elderly woman, Mrs Ocean Annie Lawson, aged 76, of 27 Clarendon terrace, suffered a broken collarbone when the car in which she was a passenger was involved in a collision with a taxi at the corner of Colombo street and Bealey avenue about 10 o’clock last evening. She was treated as an outpatient at the Christchurch Public Hospital.
