The weather forecast for Canterbury, issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: a deep depression south of New Zealand and the Tasman is moving slowly away. Forecast to 5 p.m.: moderate variable winds. Weather: mainly fair, but some isolated heavy showers likely. Temperatures: moderate to mild. WEST COAST The following is the forecast for the West Coast of the South Island:— Moderate to fresh west to southwest winds. Weather changeable, with occasional showers but fair periods increasing.
