To hon’our Miss M. I. Lambie. 0.8. E., Director of Nursing, who has been with the Department of Health for more than 30 years, officers and staff of the department gat’ ered on Thursday to bid her good-bye and wish her well in her retirement. Miss Lambie has held her post since April, 1931. She joined the department in 1918. Dr. T. R. Ritchie, Direc-tor-General of Health, in paying a tribute to Miss Lambie, said: “I think she knows the 5000 practising nurses in New Zealand. Not only does she know them, but she knows all about them.” Miss Lambie was presented with a beechwood writing desk and many other gifts.

Miss Marjorie Hill, who for the last * r £ e ea F s has been a member of the staff of the Cnristchurch Press Comply- has resigned from her post to become woman patrol officer for the Automobile Association, Canterbury. Last evening she was entertained at a farewell party and presented with parting gifts. The editor (Mr P. H.
