GLOBAL VOYAGE
GOOD PROSPECTS IN SOUTHLAND Global Voyage, which is trained by E. Todd for Mrs M. Rice, is highly rated by Southland critics. He is expected to win races at the holiday meetings. A four-year-old Springfield Globe gelding, Global Voyage, which has been unlucky in the running of some of his races, is out of Rocks Ahead, which is also the dam of Navigate, Master Mariner, Rendezvous, and Barrier Reef. Rocks Ahead, which took a record of 2min 39sec, was bred at Wyndham by H. Hunter. By Happy Voyage, she is out of the Harold Rothschild mare. First Water (4min 35 2-ssec), which was also the dam of First Author, Oasis, Nell Grattan (3min 12sec), Aqua Bond (2min Bsec), Equerry (2min 47 3-ssec), New Worthy (4min 22 sec), First Royal (2min 47 3-ssec), Salamsis, Assault (3min 37 2-ssec), Paratrooper, and First Lord. A Dillon Hall horse, First Lord is one of the favoui*tes for the Gore Trotting Club Handicap at the Gore meeting on Boxing Day. Global Voyage is engaged in the Croydon Handicap and the Mataura Handicap at the same meeting. By Josedale Grattan Level Best is one of the favourites for the December Handicap at the Auckland Trotting Club’s meeting on Tuesday. A four-year-old daughter of Josedale Grattan and Revision, Level Best, which is trained at Te Awamutu by E. N. Kennerley, has raced well for two wins, a second, and a third in her four starts this season. Trained at Charteris Bay King Pin, which will have his first race at the Ashburton Trotting Club’s meeting on Monday, is trained at Charteris Bay by J. Anderson. An attractive trotter, King Pin is by Light Brigade from a winner in Sister Mary. With age and experience, he should develop into a good performer. Cellophane’s Prospects
Some interest will be shown in Cellophane’s form on the southern circuit. Hf was no match for the best Canterbury three-year-olds at Hutt Park last month but it would not do to discard him because of those failures. As a two-year-old last season Cellophane put up exceptional figures for one of his age, and hf followed this up with a runaway wir against a seasoned but moderate field ol novices at his first appearance in public at Gore in the spring. The Honestus colt will be out to retireve some of his lost laurels at the Gore and Wintor meetings. Reminder
Withdrawals for all events on the first day of the Canterbury Park Trotting Club’s New Year meeting, to be held on Saturday, December 31st, must be received by 12 noon on Wednesday. Advt. Canterbury Park T.C. The Canterbury Park Trotting Club's New Year meeting will be held at Addington on Saturday, December 31, and Monday, January 2. The Doubles Totalisator will be in operation.
