MALVERN ELECTRIC POWER BOARD
MR J. DEANS RE-ELECTED CHAIRMAN At the annual meeting of the Malvern Electric Power Board, Mr James Deans was re-elected chairman, and Mr W. H. Faulkner re-elected deputychairman. In his monthly report to the board, the engineer-secretary said that a substantial quahtity of galvanised stranded steel conductors had been reefeived for rural electrical reticulation work, and that more was on the way. Advice had been received from the importers that the steel cored aluminium conductors being supplied from Canada were due to arrive in February. The matter which concerned the 1 board most, continued the report, was the non-delivery -of hardwood poles, a large quantity of which had been ordered 12 months To date thefe was no indication as to when they might be received. However, another importer had been approached as to deliveries, and it appeared that some improvement might be expected from this source, and accordingly an-, other order for 425 poles had been placed. The board discussed interruptions, td supply and damage to power lines, caused by mechanically operated gorse cutters throwing wires up into the power lines, and it was decided to send a circular letter to all farmers and farming contractors in the district, asking them to fit suitable guards to their machines.
