TIME OFF WORK FOR VOTERS
STATEMENT BY CHIEF ELECTORAL OFFICER
(New Zealand Press Association.) WELLINGTON. November 25. Voters must be given time off work to record their votes next Wednesday, said the Chief Electoral Officer, Mr A G. Harper, to-day. Mr Harper said that all factories, shops, offices and business premises generally where workers are employed are to close not later than 2 o’clock on Wednesday afternoon. Those workers engaged in essential services who could not be allowed off at 2 o'clock must be given reasonable time off during the day to vote. If necessary the time off might be up to three hours. AU time off was on fuU pay.
