ELECTION CAMPAIGN IN COLOMBIA
LIBERALS CALL GENERAL STRIKE (Rec. 10 p.m.) BOGOTA (Colombia), Nov. 22. The Liberal Party, which had announced that it would boycott the Presidential election on November 27, called for a general strike to operate from November 25 as a protest against “dictatorship and electoral farce.” It warned Liberals to abstain from any acts of terrorism, violence, or sabotage. The <Government reacted by announcing that persons who tried to maintain an atmosphere of unrest by publishing alarming advices would be court-martialled. The Ministry of the Interior reported that caches of arms and bombs had beefi found in three provincial localities. Arrests had been made.
